Digital Enterprise for Commerce Ballarat

The 2012 rise in Ballarat domestic overnight and day visitor numbers, estimated at 19.9% and 3%, is founded on a decade of collaborative effort between government and operators.

Ballarat Regional Tourism operators, state and national tourism associations, are continuing their work to grow visitor numbers.  Ballarat could grab a better share of the $35.5billion injected into regional tourism destinations in 2012 by domestic visitors.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking coaxing more dollars from visitors is just for tourism operators. With an estimated 38% of visitor nights attributed to staying with friends or relatives, leveraging the indirect spend of local hosts presents an opportunity for Commerce Ballarat members.

The government-funded Central Highlands Digital Enterprise project managed through CeCC at University of Ballarat, has worked with Ballarat Regional Tourism to train operators in Social Media and eMarketing. Commerce Ballarat is now working to replicate the program for retailers and the wider business community. FREE training and mentoring in Social Media, eMarketing and DIY Website Development is on offer.
